Privacy Policy
Okno is built so that almost nothing of yours sits with us. Your content lives in your own Git repository, not on our servers. This page explains the little we do handle — who you are, and the days you edit — and why.
Last updated 27 June 2026.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Gabriel Uhlíř, a sole trader (OSVČ) in the Czech Republic, IČO 06410804, registered at Holečkova 838/18, Praha 5, 150 00, Czech Republic. For any privacy question or request, contact legal@okno.build.
2. Your content is not ours
The content you create and edit with Okno lives in your own Git repository (today, GitHub). Okno reads and writes that repository when you edit and publish, but it does not host, copy, or store your content on our own servers. Your repository, and the rights over what's in it, stay yours.
3. What we collect
- Identity (GitHub). When you sign in with GitHub we receive your GitHub username, avatar, and email address, plus an access token used to act on the repositories you connect — only while you use Okno.
- Billing ledger. A minimal record of your editing days: timestamps, the project they belong to, and the amount charged. This is what tracks the €10/day, €40/month and €200/year caps. We do not hold your card details.
- Technical logs. Basic server and security logs (such as IP address and request metadata) generated when the editor talks to our backend.
4. Why we use it (legal bases)
- To provide the editor — signing you in and letting you read and write your repository (performance of our contract with you).
- To bill editing days — recording the days you publish and applying the caps (performance of our contract).
- To keep the service secure and working — logs and abuse prevention (our legitimate interest), and to meet our accounting and tax obligations (legal obligation).
5. Card data and payments
Payments are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Your card details are entered into and stored by Paddle under their own privacy terms; Okno never sees or stores them. Paddle also handles taxes, invoices and refunds. See Paddle's privacy policy at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
6. Who we share data with
We rely on a small number of processors to run the service:
- GitHub — sign-in and the repository that holds your content (controlled by you).
- Paddle — payments, tax and invoicing (Merchant of Record).
- Hetzner — servers in Germany (EU) that run our backend and database.
- Cloudflare — the okno.build website, DNS, email routing and cookieless analytics.
We do not sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
7. Cookies and analytics
The okno.build website uses no advertising or tracking cookies. For aggregate traffic statistics (pageviews, referrers, popular pages) we use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool that sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and cannot track you across sites. The editor and its backend set only the strictly necessary cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session. Because nothing here tracks you across sites, the website doesn't show a cookie banner.
8. International transfers
Some processors (such as GitHub and Paddle) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by an appropriate safeguard — an adequacy decision, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your identity data while you use Okno. We keep the billing ledger for as long as accounting and tax law requires. Technical logs are kept for a short period and then deleted.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Write to legal@okno.build and we'll act on it. You also have the right to complain to the Czech Data Protection Authority (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.cz) or your local supervisory authority.
11. Changes and contact
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, make a reasonable effort to tell you. Questions: legal@okno.build.
